What is RMTransCon?RMTranscon is a fan run Transformers convention based on the popular Hasbro toyline. RMTranscon is a non-for-profit convention meant to bring fans and dealers together in person. RMTransCon was started by Robot Monster Toys two years ago (See the old webpages for RMTransCon 2001 and RMTransCon 2002). For its third year, RMTranscon is being run by Michael Lehto and is being hosted by the Texas A&M Gaming Club’s Protocon convention. RMTransCon will be part of the Dealer’s Room at Protocon. What is ProtoCon? ProtoCon is a Gaming convention held by The Gaming Club of Texas A&M university. For more information on Protocon, check our their website. When is RMTransCon/ProtoCon? RMTransCon/Protocon 2003 is from Friday, September 19th through Sunday, September 21st. Times are the following: Friday 4pm - 8pm, Saturday 10am - 8pm, and Sunday 10am - 6pm. Friday and Saturday morning will most likely be used to setup everything (depending on who is there) while after noon on Saturday and all day Sunday the con should be in full force. Where is RMTransCon/ProtoCon? RMTransCon/ProtoCon 2003 will be held in the Memorial Student Center(MSC) building on the campus of Texas A&M University. Directions on getting to the Texas A&M Campus from various cities can be found here. The location of the Memorial Student Center can be found here. The location of RMTransCon this year is only about 3-4 blocks from the previous 2 year's conventions. How much does it cost to attend RMTransCon/ProtoCon? Admission to RMTransCon 2003 is absolutely FREE! This is because the ProtoCon Dealer's Room does not cost anything to get into. However, if you are interested in participating in any other activities other than the Dealer's Room at ProtoCon, you will have to buy a ProtoCon pass. For information on registering as an attendee for ProtoCon, go here. What about parking? Parking on a college campus is either not cheap or not easy. The cheap way would involve parking on the other (north) side of Simpson Drill field (which is infront of the Memorial Student Center). The easy way is paying $10 a day at the University Center parking garage on the south side of Memorial Student Center. Is it possible to get a table if all 15 tables have been spoken for? Possibly. It all depends on if the Protocon Dealer's Room is sold out or not. Check the RMTransCon 2003 webpage for updates on how many tables are left since not all dealers have been confirmed. If you are interested or have any more questions about getting a table for RMTransCon 2003, contact the con director, Michael Lehto. How much does a table cost? Those who reserve or confirm the first 15 tables, are FREE of cost. It is the con director's way of saying "Thanks" for supporting RMTransCon the previous 2 years. If more than 15 tables are needed and if ProtoCon staff can give us more, tables will be $10 before September 1st, and $15 afterwards. If you are interested or have any more questions about getting a table for RMTransCon 2003, contact the con director, Michael Lehto. What's the deal with the Art and Customs Table? The Art and Customs table will be a table dedicated to showing off artwork and customs. Basically, whoever wants to bring artwork or customs, they are welcome to leave them at the Art and Customs table so that all attendees may view them. The artwork and customs are for DISPLAY ONLY. If you have any questions on showing off your stuff, contact the Art and Customs Director. How about the Trade Pit Table? The point of the Trade Pit table is to allow attendees to wheel and deal without disturbing dealer transactions. Trades may be done with dealers and buying/selling transactions will be allowed at the trade pit. Just try not to rip anyone off! What about (a) Special Guest(s)/Guest Speaker(s)? There are no plans to have a Special Guest or Guest Speaker. However, this does not mean that we will not allow one. They are welcome to attend as long as the guest person realizes 1) RMTransCon will not be able to pay for travel, hotel, and food expenses and 2) it is up to the individual who got the guest in the first place to take care of the guest. This means that if you want a guest, you will be the one responsible for all their needs. If a guest confirms that he/she will be at RMTransCon, efforts will be made to provide them a table for free. Contact the con director if a guest will come and needs a table/area. If you still have any questions, contact the con director, Michael Lehto. |
